Resistence at Flossenburg
On May 1st, 1944, Soviet Prisoners of war attempted an escape from Mülsen St. Micheln, a subcamp of Flossenburg. They killed several Kapos, Soviets who enforced SS rules, and set their bunks on fire. The SS squashed the revolt and none of the men escaped. About 200 prisoners died of burn injuries. The 40 surviving leaders of this revolution were shipped to the main camp Flossenburg where they were tried and later executed. (Terry)
